Saurav Roy Chowdhury at Indian Art Circle

Throughout his career as a freelance sculptor, Saurav Roy Chowdhury has created works of wide range and breadth covering subjects such as spirituality, human mortality, consciousness, mythology, and violence. To make these sculptures he often uses terracotta, fiberglass, bronze, stainless steel. etc. Being born in an artist’s family, Saurav started clay modeling at an early age. Soon after completing secondary school in 1994, he entered  Kala Bhavan, the fine arts academy of Visva Bharati University, India. He was the recipient of scholarships from the government of India, Lalit Kala Akademi scholarship, the National Scholarship, and the Elizabeth Greenshields grant, Canada. Saurav’s work has been shown extensively, in exhibitions, at art biennales, and international art fairs. He had several major sculpture shows in India and abroad. In 2018, Saurav was chosen as Artist of Kristiansand, Norway. Other accomplishments include: Birla Academy award and Emami Chisel Art Award from India. His sculpture was sold at Christie’s first art auction in Kolkata, 2008. Saurav lives and works in Santiniketan and Kolkata, India.
