Bharti Bhatnagar at Indian Art Circle

Bharti Bhatnagar has been deeply interested in fine arts & writing since her early colage days. Born in 1946 at Bikaner, Rajasthan, she was exposed to an intermingling of artists, literature, poets since her early childhood in the academic environment of Allahabad University. & later at Sager University where her father was a distinguished professor of linguistics & litrature.This intellectual surrounding influenced her impressionable mind creating a long-standing interest in fine arts. Her sensitive was also influenced by the erudite scholarship of her father, who nattered in the interest in fine arts & creative writing.

Since the early 80's she has pursued both with deep commitments & interest. She has also preserved in other art forms. Married to an Indian Foreign Service Officer, she has traveled extensively in Africa, Middle east, Europe & United States., which further enriched her experience of varied art forms, & practices both Traditional & Modern.

A post-graduate in psychology, Bharti is self taught artist, who is willing to experiment & synthesize weaving her creative ideas to evolve her unique style in creating her ceramic & pottery objects d'art. Her another passion is porcelain hand painting which she learnt in her four years stay in Portugal & visits to Spain.

Bharti has participated in workshop in India & abroad. In 1993, she joined Trivini Kala Sangam, New Delhi where she developed her skills in plastic arts & worked mostly in Bronze. In 1994-95, her bronze sculptures were exhibited in Lalit Kala Academy Exhibition for new artists & Mid night Art Exhibition organized by Art Consult, a Delhi based art gallery. Later, in mid-96, on moving to Portugal with her husband, she participated in workshops with leading Portuguese sculptors like Carlos Vizeu developing & fine tuning her skills in art of making ceramic sculptures & porcelain hand painting.

During 1998-2000, several exhibition of her sculptures both in ceramic & hand painted porcelain were held at Pala'cio do Beau Se' Jour & leading hotel Zurique in Lisbon & also in other towns of Portugal. On return to India in December 2000, her last exhibition of hand painted porcelain was held in Oct- Nov, 2001 at India Habitat Center, New Delhi which was inaugurated by the Indian Minister for Culture.

She has widely traveled in Portugal, Spain & other European countries to study & understand the traditions & practices which find their influences in her creations including the Indian motif.
