LOST & FOUND WATER COLOURS OF BENGAL DURING THE RAJ

Vision, The centre of Art has put on display the lost work of Painters of Bengal, which were discovered recently. Water colours by Balai Das, R. Tarefdar, Smriti, Chetna Dev Chatterjee, etc. Most of the watercolours on display are the Offshoot of the British academic realistic that was tought in the British-Indian in goverment spounsered schools. The merit of these works does not lie in the approach alone. It lies mainly in the dexterity and freedom of each artist, his use of colours, his trematic pick this usual grasp.

Balai Das landscapes made a fine impression. R. tarefdar has done some fine landscape and some scenes from Life such as Passengers travelling on a Train. On the whole these works detail backing to 1930's are of historical importance.
