During
this period I did larger work, approximately 4' x 6', of strong assertive
women figures. I explored the medium of acrylic on acrylic painted on the
reverse, further. Also used the flow of paint in accidental ways
to arrive at a more spontaneous expression. I explored the
possibilities of white on white working in several layers on one surface.
I used the Krishna blueon the women
signifying the spir-itual strength of the figure. I used newspaper metromon-ium
advertisement as symbols of contemporary materialism and scattered them
in the background of my work. The image of the women was dominant and commanding-
rising above and challenging the pettiness in the world around her.
The female figure in tune with nature. The voluminous handling of my early
work gave way to a flatter rendering) moving beyond the realm of the sensuous
body. It was a time of discovery for me when through my art I got a deeper
insight of social issues pertaining to femininity.
