Gauri Pant
Gauri Pant is a well known name in the world of Art and Literature.
She has published three collections of poems in English titled Weeping
Season,
Voodoo and Staircase 17, as well as a collection of short stories
in Hindi.
She has worked briefly at the J.J. School of Art, in Bombay,
and was associated for a while with the Progressive Artists' Group
in Kashmir.
After a long interval, she took up painting again in 1987 and
has exhibited in Delhi, Germany and Holland.
Her paintings are with the National Gallery of Modern Art in New
Delhi,
and the Glenbara Art Museum in Japan as well as in private collections
in India and abroad.
"Gauri Pant has been a part of our early contemporary
art history since the fourties & has a strong streak of individualism.
She started with art, went on to publish her collection of poems
in English & a collections of short stories in Hindi& to the delight
of art lovers, returned to art in the late eighties. Her son Sudhir
Pant also started with art, then to the call of the literary world &back
to art. Art lovers can now see their latest works in this latest exhibition
titled "Attitudes, Scared & profane"
