Curators Note : Forms and Rhythms from Beyond the Seas - Art San Diego

Indian Art Circle Art Fair Grant, “Forms and Rhythms from Beyond the Seas”

Curated by Gargi Seth

Insomuch as being entirely global in sentiment and sensibility, Indian art is historically informed by our immense legacy of classical and folk and tribal arts down, the millenia. It retains a certain aesthetic, a richness of forms and rhythms in its fibre. With the information highway reducing the world to a global village, the youth of the world is now brought up in a universal culture. So while Indian literature, theatre and performing arts have always been highly sophisticated, they are also evolving and exploring global themes - as the essential human quests change over time.

Forms and Rhythms from Beyond the Seas brings this throbbing aesthetic, from a beautiful part of the world, right onto the global art stage created by Art San Diego. The collection includes the quintessential Indian figuratives and figurative narratives with some lilting landscapes, all imbued with the colours and visual rhythm of the land!
