A technique used to remove paint applied on a material with the help of a  sharp instrument eg. blade.

A three-dimensional work of art, made through carving, moulding, or casting of materials like metals, stones, clay etc.

Marine Painting
A type of painting which represents the sea, its surroundings and all the sights and objects associated with it, like ships, boats lighthouse etc. Marine paintings used to typically depict historical events at sea, like a battle etc. This kind of painting evolved as a genre by itself during the 17th century in Holland.
Serigraphy
A method of print-making that makes use of the technique of stenciling. A stencil is created on a screen made of silk. The pigment is brushed through this screen to obtain the desired results on the base.
Tempera
  This is a medium for painting in which the pigment is suspended, traditionally, in eggs or egg yolk. Tempera also uses other substances such as milk, glue, or the sap of the fig tree. This used to be a favored medium with the 14th and 15th century Italian painters.
Tertiary Colour
A colour that is obtained by mixing in any proportion two of the three secondary colours -orange, violet and green. Consequently, it contains a bit of each of the primary colours.
Texture
The nature of the surface of a painting or sculpture. Texture also indicates the quality of an artistes work, such as the thickness of the pigment applied, brush strokes, etc
Varnish
This consists of a resin dissolved in a medium, generally used as a protective coating. It can also be used to transfer the pigment and act as a paint too.
Watercolors

This is a translucent paint made with water-soluble elements. The term also denotes paintings made with these colours. Water is used as the medium and the water-soluble pigment and binder are mixed in water to obtain transparent finish on the surface.
